Moment has partnered with Malaysia Airlines on the first international deployment of its embedded Flymingo Connect wireless in-flight entertainment (wireless IFE) platform.

Malaysia Airlines will pilot the solution in January 2022 onboard select Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Upon completion of the testing phase, the oneworld alliance member plans to deploy Flymingo Connect across its entire fleet, which currently serves 1,000 destinations across 150 countries.

The Flymingo Connect modular embedded wireless IFE solution, which consists of a server and wireless access points, allows passengers to stream content on their personal electronic devices, including real-time travel information.

Making use of the latest technologies, including 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ax and IoT gateways, Flymingo Connect also enables airlines to provide in-cabin connected services. Furthermore, it also gives airlines access to an e-commerce platform to create additional ancillary revenue opportunities.

Lau Yin May, Group Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Office at Malaysia Airlines, commented, “The Flymingo Connect system empowers Malaysia Airlines to deliver market-leading onboard services, elevate our passenger’s onboard experience, build customer loyalty and increase ancillary revenue.”

“This is part of a more extensive cabin refurbishment programme that the airline has undertaken to ensure we deliver a seamless and highly customized travel experience for our passengers, especially in a post-pandemic era,” she added.

Moment also announced a contract with Iraq-based Fly Baghdad at APEX/IFSA EXPO 2021. The carrier has opted to install Moment’s Flymingo Box wireless IFE system across its five Boeing 737NG and is also planning to deploy the product on all incoming aircraft.
